Cell Phones and Driving
Safety Tips brought to you by MetroPCS.

Using a cell phone while driving can be dangerous if you are not careful, so it's best to not mix the two. Remember that as a driver your top priority is paying attention to the road. But if you must use your cell phone while driving, here are some key safety tips to follow:

  1. Use a hands free device: Take advantage of hands free cell phone accessories that are available such as Bluetooth and Speakerphone accessories.

  2. Pull over: Have your cell phone in an easy to reach space so, when you can do so safely, pull off the road into a safe area before using your cell phone.

  3. Understand your phone: Make sure you understand the main features of your phone. Voice command on your handset will allow you to keep your attention on driving.

  4. Stay away from using your phone during hazardous driving conditions: If facing dangerous driving conditions such as hazardous weather or heavy traffic, it is best not to use your cell phone. Unless it is an
emergency, wait until you have reached your destination to use your phone.

  5. Use your cell phone in emergency situations: Your cell phone is a valuable resource to call for help in emergency situations involving yourself or others. Dial 911 in the case of any emergency - it's always a free call on your cell phone.
